UN CHILDREN’S FUND

Tackling Low Birth Registration Rates

Children are dying. This statement may be difficult to hear, but this committee is intended to face these emergencies head-on. According to UNICEF, the Sub-Saharan Africa region is 11 times more likely to die in the first month of life than a child born in the region of Australia and New Zealand. The good news is that child mortality has decreased substantially since the 1990s. However, there is much work to be done. From lacking universal rights to inheriting biological disadvantages, children are more susceptible to mortality. This committee will examine past policies, explore future solutions, and debate ongoing issues. We will also explore what policies are effective on the national and international levels so that we may consider replicating them on a larger scale. Altogether, this committee must decide on whether to invest the time, money, and energy toward bettering the lives of children all over the world. Join us on this adventurous journey through child development!
