145th IOC Session

IOC | Specialized

As official members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), delegates in this specialized committee will participate in the IOC’s approaching session, just before the Winter Olympics in Milan. Delegates will be tasked with addressing the significant issues impacting the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles (2028), Nice (2030), Brisbane (2032), and Salt Lake City (2034). Delegates will be forced to navigate the complex geopolitical, financial, and cultural implications of IOC decisions as they make changes to the structure, administration, and style of the Olympic Games. During this session, delegates will consider every facet of the Olympics from the Games themselves to the details of IOC administration.

Delegates will be responsible for considering the addition or removal of sports, the tightening, restricting, or altering of doping regulations, the economic impact of the games on host countries, proposals from other countries, the modernization of the games, and many more pressing issues. The answers to these questions have the potential to change the landscape of the Olympics for the foreseeable future. This committee aims to challenge delegates to consider the geopolitical implications of their actions from the unique perspective of the IOC instead of more traditional Model-UN actors, such as countries and domestic politicians, which will strengthen their Model-UN skills.
