TASK FORCE BOTSWANA

Environmental Impacts of Poaching | 3-Way Joint Crisis

The Botswana Task Force on Poaching (BTFOP) was established in 2017 as a coordinated effort to address the escalating issue of poaching that was endangering the country's unique and diverse wildlife. Poaching, driven by illegal activities such as ivory trade and bushmeat hunting, posed a significant threat to iconic species like elephants and rhinos, as well as other vulnerable animals. The Task Force operates in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, conservation organizations, local communities, and international partners to ensure a comprehensive and multifaceted response to the poaching crisis. The Task Force conducts operations employing a combination of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and field patrols to apprehend poachers and dismantle illegal wildlife trafficking networks. As a member of the Task Force, you must continue the work that has already begun, stopping illegal markets and collaborating with forces both inside and outside Botswana.
